Welcome

Welcome to Health Guide Greece!

This website is an initiative of a group of researchers developed especially to guide foreign patients through the Greek [private!] health care sector. People from all over the world may find medical providers who maintain a webpage in English and/or other languages in addition to Greek. The initiative is a result of voluntary work and desires to remain independent. Therefore, it has no sponsors and takes no fees by any party.

We hope that you will find the information useful and we are looking forward to listening to your comments and feedback!

Sincerely,

We would like to shortly note that we are not recomending any of the providers listed in specific

Health Guide Greece comes as a response to the growing phenomenon of international patient movement. Its inspiration can be traced in the efforts of numerous patients world wide to solve their health problems even when that includes travelling abroad.

It is widely accepted that cross border care has been increasing to a large extent due to inability to access health care at home. Given that, patients increasingly consider the option to undertake consultation and treatment provided by foreign medical providers. We would not argue that there is much to celebrate here. Hardships and risks are numerous for travellers and communities at destination countries may be disadvantaged too by the practice. Affluent information and transparency would, thus, be at least a means to mitigate problems arising by patients' travel.

Website Organisation
In their search of foreign providers within foreign health care systems, patients need affluent information and often support. The latter need has led to the emergence of medical travel facilitators or relevant portals that undertake the duty to advice on the medical and/or travel component of the trip. Some patients decide to consult them, while others prefer to base their decisions on own internet search, family and friends' advice and so on. It is the latter group of people that this website mostly serves. Health Guide Greece concentrates in its pages medical providers in Greece that maintain a webpage in foreign languages, signalling thus an ability to communicate and accept patients from abroad. These are organised according to geographical location with the help of a map and are subsequently presented in alphabetical order. A list of local intermediating companies is also available.

At last but not least, we would like to refer to an introductory to ancient healing spaces page. We have especially included all healing places of Ancient Greek and Roman times that today function as archeological sites and are waiting for you to pay a visit.

Please note that our role is not to advise on providers or do recommendations. Even though we have visited numerous of the included practices, and have spoken to a significant number of medical doctors and providers' representatives, our capacity and role would not allow to conduct any form of inspection on the facilities and health professionals. Therefore, we do not assume any responsibility other than making your online search indeed much faster and easier.

We welcome any comment and question related to Health Guide Greece, the phenomenon of international patient movement or the Greek private and public health care system.
